Perry County Sheriff

April 2021 - May 2022

Perry County, Ohio Sheriff’s Office - Worked in Court Security, Prisoner Transportation and Road Patrol. Assigned as a Sergeant in the Investigations Division. Supplemental duties included Saturday Road Patrol Supervisor and SRT team member.

Columbus Police

June 1997 - June 2020

Columbus, Ohio Division of Police - Served in the Patrol Bureau, working suburban type areas on the west and northeast side of the city. Worked in an inner-city precinct on the near east side of town. Finished time in Patrol by working the area adjacent to The Ohio State University. Served in the Special Victims Bureau, Physical Abuse Squad, investigating child abuse. Served in the Narcotics Bureau working covert assignments in the Night Vice Squad and as an agent in the Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commission, Central Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force. Served in the Traffic Bureau, Accident Investigations Squad, investigating fatal car crashes. Served as a member of the Hostage Negotiation Team, responding to approximately 300 hostage/barricade incidents. Served as a Fraternal Order of Police grievance representative. Served periodically as a flight observer in the Helicopter Unit. Served on the Employee Action Review System Committee. Served on the Division Peer Assistance Team. Served on the Crisis Intervention Team.

Springfield Police

June 1994 - June 1997

Springfield, Ohio Police Division - Assigned to Patrol Bureau. Worked a temporary covert assignment in the Drug/Intelligence Unit, purchasing illegal drugs, executing search warrants and assisting in tactical missions with the Special Response Team. Worked temporary plain clothes assignments conducting surveillance operations and serving felony/misdemeanor arrest warrants.

Montgomery County Sheriff

March 1993 - June 1994

Montgomery County, Ohio Sheriff’s Office - Assigned to the jail as a corrections officer. Duties included being responsible for the welfare and the supervision of day to day activities of several dozen jail inmates. Substantial training and application in receiving, booking, forming, interior transport, housing, security control and release of detainees. When tasked with working the main floors, Bob was responsible for 52 inmates in an open pod housing environment. When assigned to the jail annex, he was responsible for over 100 high risk inmates in a linear housing setting.

Marine Corps

November 1986 - May 1991

United States Marine Corps - Served as a Squad Leader in Dragon Platoon, Weapons Company, Third Battalion, Second Marine Regiment, Second Marine Division. Training was extensive in cold weather, mountain, jungle, urban and desert warfare. Additional comprehensive training included embassy evacuation, barricade missions, riot control, demolitions and dignitary protection. Supplemental duties included Company Prisoner Transport Officer (Chaser) and Company Marksmanship Instructor. Temporary assignments included a tour with the Camp Lejeune Provost Marshal’s Office (Police Department). Deployments included a voluntary extension with Battalion Landing Team 3/2, Fourth Marine Expeditionary Brigade during Operation Desert Shield/Storm.
